On November 29, 2016, the Axia Award was presented in Hamburg to German family businesses that were recognized for their sustainable corporate strategies. One of the winners was the natural stone company Uzin Utz AG. The competition for sustainable entrepreneurship was held under the motto “Preserving and continuing tradition” and was held nationwide for the first time.

The Axia Award
The auditing and consulting firm Deloitte has awarded the prize to six companies together with WirtschaftsWoche. The aim of the award is to recognize “successful company successions in medium-sized businesses” in order to “maintain investment, innovation and jobs across generations”, explains Holger Lösch, member of the BDI’s Executive Board. In the category “Best non-family managing director”, the company Uzin Utz AG and its CEO Thomas Müllerschön came out on top. Uzin Utz AG, which has over 1,000 employees worldwide, has managed to successfully transfer the management of the company while retaining the family values.
Laying and maintaining natural stone
The company also sells products for the professional laying of natural stone under the Codex brand. Codex supplies appropriate products for every area, such as substrate preparation, laying or grouting natural stone. The range also includes various care products for the ongoing cleaning of different natural stone coverings. With the ecoTec product line, the company offers environmentally friendly products. According to the manufacturer, the products “meet the requirements of Emicode EC 1 PLUS certification and are therefore even lower in emissions. In addition, EcoTec can be used to create a complete system – from substrate preparation to grouting the natural stone floor.”
