“How much overtime did Germans work in 2015? Well?” Silence. “1.8 billion.”
“And how many of these 1,813 million hours of overtime do you think were paid?” Again, not a peep. “Less than half. That means 997.1 million hours of unpaid overtime.”
With these words, Tanja Braemer, Head of Content Hub Architecture, City & Landscape at Callwey Verlag, introduced the panel discussion “Baumeister after 8”. The evening event took place in a pleasant atmosphere in Stuttgart at the end of November. The host was the architecture firm wulf architekten.
The after-work talk, followed by a get-together, dealt with the topic “Brave new world of work – can architecture make you creative?”, as it did the first two times in spring in Munich (Auer Weber Architekten) and Berlin (Staab Architekten). The event was once again supported by Steelcase, a specialist in office furnishings and an expert in innovative space solutions. What makes good idea spaces? What motivates people? And what motivates creative people in particular? Baumeister discussed questions like these with Prof. Tobias Wulf, Managing Partner of wulf architekten, and Joachim Müller, Director Vertical Markets at Steelcase.
