On Friday, November 11, the award ceremony for the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Prize 2022 took place in Munich. For the second time, the bdla Landesverband Bayern is honoring innovative projects and plans in Bavaria that landscape architects have implemented in the last five years. The Prinz-Eugen-Park in Munich by Liebald + Aufermann Landschaftsarchitekten was the winner of the evening.
On Friday, November 11, the award ceremony for the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Prize 2022 took place in Munich. For the second time, the bdla Landesverband Bayern is honoring innovative projects and plans in Bavaria that landscape architects have implemented in the last five years. The Prinz-Eugen-Park in Munich by Liebald + Aufermann Landschaftsarchitekten was the winner of the evening.
The bdla Landesverband Bayern awarded the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Prize for the second time. In addition to the main prize, it also honored five projects in predefined categories. Among them were not only “classic” fields of work in landscape architecture such as play and leisure or the greening of buildings, but also topics such as experimental landscape architecture or urbanity. The award ceremony for the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Prize 2022 took place on November 11 at the Oberangertheater in Munich. This year’s patron was City Planning Councillor Elisabeth Merk.
Prinz-Eugen-Park receives main prize and recognition
The “Prinz-Eugen-Park” project by Liebald + Aufermann Landschaftsarchitekten not only received the main prize on Friday evening, but also recognition in the “Greening of buildings and biodiversity” category. Dr. Reinhard Witt and Katrin Kaltofen from “Die Naturgartenplaner” were responsible for the biodiversity planning and planting and were therefore significantly involved in the project. The Prinz-Eugen-Park, a housing project in Munich, captures the spirit of our times, according to the jury of the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Award. It particularly emphasized the involvement of the residents in the work and planning process. The residents themselves lend a hand with the planting and maintenance of the green spaces. The Prinz-Eugen-Park embodies ideal coexistence in the city and in harmony with nature.

Awards of the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Prize 2022
The Wörnitz outdoor river pool in Oettingen was awarded in the “Green and Blue Infrastructure” category. According to the jury, the Dresden-based firm Storch Landschaftsarchitektur and Jordan Balzer Schubert Architekten succeeded in integrating existing elements into the new design of the riverside pool. The result is a place where young and old can relax.

The Container Collective in Munich was honored with the award in the category “Experimental Landscape Architecture and Building in Detail”. With the Container Collective, Jühling & Köppel Landschaftsarchitekten designed a low-budget solution for the Werksviertel. According to the jury, the “Pop Up City” is an excellent experiment for a refreshing urban intervention.

The Paul-Gerhardt-Allee Landscape Park in Munich was awarded the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Prize 2022 in the “Tourism, Leisure, Play and Sport” category. The jury praised the project as a very successful spatial composition by lohrer:hochrein. The landscape architects succeeded in shielding the recreational space of the surrounding residential area from the emissions of the railroad.

In the “Urbanity, Existing Structures, City and Space” category of the Bavarian Landscape Architecture Award 2022, a project dedicated to the theme of “water” was recognized. Marlene Heichele Wolfgang Weinzierl Landschaftsarchitekten took on the task of implementing flood protection in Regensburg in a functional and aesthetic way.
