Publicity and promotion of young talent through the Miss and Mister Crafts titles
26-year-old Dana Bernert is a stonemason in Saarland and is the only candidate for the stonemasonry trade to take part in the “Germany’s Power People” competition. A jury will choose Miss and Mister Craft in March 2020.
This is how the competition to choose Miss and Miss Crafts works: Craftspeople apply for a photo casting in the first step. On the competition platform, users can view all applicants, filter them by category and vote themselves. The votes from the voting and a jury decide who takes part in the shoot.

Twelve craftspeople make it into the calendar that is created from the photos. From these “calendar stars”, the jury will nominate six female and six male candidates, who will then compete for the title of Miss and Mister Crafts at the International Crafts Fair.
The competition accompanies the image campaign of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts. It is intended to present the skilled trades to a broad public and serves to promote young talent. Miss and Mister Skilled Crafts then represent their guild and the entire industry for a year in public, for example at trade fairs and events.
Candidate Dana Bernert tells the “Saarbrücker Zeitung” newspaper that she is taking part to inspire others – especially women. They should “do what they believe in”. The stonemason herself trained at the Blug stonemasonry workshop after graduating from high school and completing her federal voluntary service and now works there as a journeywoman. She wants to do her master’s degree and perhaps set up her own company later. Anyone who wants to can vote for Bernert on the competition page until August 30.
