Regular maintenance is an essential prerequisite for the preservation of art and cultural-historical objects in museums, exhibitions, historical showrooms and depots. The VDR Preventive Conservation specialist group is therefore planning the specialist conference “Clean and airy! Aspects of Collection Care I” from March 17 to 19, 2022 with the kind support of the Conservation and Restoration course at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences and the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG). The main topics will be cleaning/maintenance care and ventilation/climate as well as their overlaps and interactions.
The conference is aimed at restorers and experts from the fields of museums and monument conservation, it is intended to be practice-oriented and to promote dialog between all those involved in the preservation of cultural assets. In addition to introductory, fundamental contributions, applicable concepts, small and large tried-and-tested solutions, but also measures that may not have been able to achieve the desired goal in its entirety, may stimulate exchange and discussion. In addition to presentations, poster contributions are also planned.
During the breaks, there will be ample opportunity to exchange ideas and continue discussions with each other and the speakers. On the third day of the conference, guided tours/excursions by our partner – the SPSG – will conclude the program.
The conference language is German, English-language contributions are welcome, but simultaneous translation is not provided.
Information: Contributions for the Call for Papers can be sentto sammlungspflege@restauratoren.deuntil August 31, 2021.
