The design potential of Laufen’s SaphirKeramik is demonstrated by the new “Val” bathroom collection created by Munich designer Konstantin Grcic for the Swiss bathroom specialist: simple, architectural lines, extremely narrow edges and thin walls as well as fine surface structures. Val includes washbasins, washbasin bowls, storage bowls and a bathtub – matching new bathroom furniture from the Laufen range is also available.
The centerpiece of the new collection is a rectangular, wall-mounted washbasin in widths from 450 to 950 mm. Its hallmarks are straight lines, edges with tight radii and gently rounded corners. Val also includes a rectangular and an asymmetrical washbasin bowl. The round bowl measures 325 mm in diameter, the rectangular one 360 x 280 mm. Grcic has designed a freestanding bathtub to match the SaphirKeramik objects: Laufen manufactures the bathtub from the cast mineral material “Sentec”; it can therefore be produced with a single wall and in a single casting without having to do without an integrated overflow. This makes the bath significantly lighter than double-walled models made from other cast mineral materials.
Val is complemented by the new “Space” bathroom furniture. With thin frames and aluminum handles, the practical vanity unit speaks the same design language as the wall-mounted washbasins. Various washbasin tops, drawer units, tall cabinets with and without mirrored doors and a trolley complete the range. Space is available in dark elm, light walnut and matt white.
