Callwey Verlag, together with its renowned partners, is once again inviting entries for the “Gardens of the Year” competition. For the twelfth time, the competition is seeking the most outstanding privately designed gardens in the German-speaking world—created by landscape architects and gardening and landscaping companies from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Landscape architects and gardening professionals can submit their projects through July 17, 2026.
High-Profile Partners and Expert Jury
The competition is supported by a broad alliance of professional associations and media outlets, including the bdla, BGL, DGGL, ÖGLA, BSLA, GALABAU Austria, Jardin Suisse, as well as the GaLaBau and Giardina trade fairs. The magazines *Garten + Landschaft*, *Mein schöner Garten*, *Gartenpraxis*, *Gärten*, *zoll+*, *BSLA-Journal*, *G’plus*, and the *GaLaBau Journal* will feature the winning projects.
The submitted entries will be evaluated by an independent jury, whose members include Thomas Banzhaf (BGL), Prof. Stephan Lenzen (BDLA), Dirk Ebben (Baumschule Ebben), and Daniel Berg, winner of the 2026 Gardens of the Year award.
Submission and Awards Ceremony
Participants can submit their projects here by July 17, 2025. The submission fee is 390 euros for the first project and 195 euros for each additional one. The awards ceremony will take place on February 25, 2027, at the Ebben Nursery.
The 50 Best Gardens in a Photo Book and Exhibition
The top 50 gardens will be published in the high-quality Callwey yearbook “Gardens of the Year 2027” and presented in an accompanying exhibition. The award-winning gardens will also receive media coverage through features in leading gardening and landscape publications.
Additional Awards: Newcomer, Architects’ Choice, and Garden Photography
In addition to the main prize, three special awards will again be presented in 2027:

Newcomer of the Year: For the third time, a prize will be awarded to young firms founded no earlier than 2023.

Gardens of the Year – Architects’ Choice: “Gardens of the Year – Architects’ Choice”isthe award for companies whose products make a significant contribution to the most beautiful garden projects. The winner among the submitted products will be determined by an online voteatwww.gaerten-des-jahres.combythe Top 100 Gardens of the Year designers. At the start of voting, a fee of 3,900 euros (plus VAT) per submitted product is due for the media package. The deadline for submissions is October 5, 2026.

Garden Photography of the Year: In 2027, theGarden Photography of the Yearawardwill bepresentedfor the eighth time:From amongthe 50 gardens featured in the yearbook, the jury will select a photo series that particularly stands out. The criteria include: perspective on the garden, overall impression, visual language, chosen framing, and representation of the garden.
