Great, now what? Yalla Yalla

Robin Lang and Wulf Kramer

Today: Yalla Yalla Studio

Just finished your studies – or in the final stages – and really. no. Plan. what to do next? We’ve all been at this point. Used to always having a goal in mind, there’s now a big question mark. Goodbye university, hello fears for the future. We have the antidote: young offices and employees who are going their own way. We asked them about their biggest fears, inspirations and successes. Today: Yalla Yalla Studio from Mannheim.

Where did you learn the most during your apprenticeship?
On the street.
We learned everything else through our classical architecture studies. Wulf studied at AbK Stuttgart and TU Delft – I studied at TU Kaiserslautern. Wulf also completed a Master’s degree in Social Innovation at the University of Krems.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
First and foremost, the variety and being able to do things that might not be possible in other offices.

Which building has left you speechless recently?
The BER

What caused the last big dispute?
The calculation of ancillary costs.

What breaks your heart?
Lack of budgets for projects close to my heart.

The task was to create a coworking space for the Heidelberg coworking operator "Breidenbach".
The location was an old industrial loft...

What can’t architecture do?
Just look good.

What are you afraid of?
Sometimes of the current political movements, locally, nationally but also worldwide.

Yalla Yalla Architekten planned the exhibition design for the exhibition "A city eats".

Let’s be honest: how many night shifts do you do a month?
Zero! One thing we learned, especially during our internships, was that things have to be done differently. Maybe that’s another reason why we rarely take part in competitions.

What’s next?
Even more Yalla Yalla!
