With the “Hamburg Prize for Green Buildings”, the Ministry for the Environment and Energy of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg awards prizes for special and innovative green buildings that are examples of successful design and use. A green façade, a playground on the roof, extensive green roofs or even unusual indoor plantings, whether for private, public or commercial use, can be submitted to the competition. Prerequisite: The greened area must measure at least twelve square meters and the building must be located in the Hamburg city area or one of the neighboring districts. Anyone involved in the realization can take part: Planners, developers, owners, tenants as well as initiatives and executing companies. A jury of experts will award prizes to the projects submitted. There are cash and non-cash prizes to be won; the best examples will be presented to the public as part of an exhibition.

The European Training Centre for Stonemasons and Stone Sculptors in Wunsiedel has been organizing an exchange programme with the Turkish University in Torbali since 2011.

The “Torbali Meslek Yüksekokulu” faculty at Dokus Eyül University in Izmir specializes in stone technology, sculpture, mosaic techniques and monument conservation. During the one-week exchange program, the Turkish students and engineers will deepen their experience in stone processing in numerous workshops at the training center for the stonemasonry trade. During an excursion to the cathedral building hut in Regensburg, they will also learn about the intricacies of stone processing and the traditional stone craftsmanship and, after the climb, will be able to enjoy a unique view over the city. Intercultural professional cooperation not only promotes the students’ professional development. They also get to know a new culture through dialog with each other.

Oak decors remain a timeless classic. PROJECT FLOORS therefore presents its new additional collection: OAK SELECTION.

Oak is a timeless classic and remains the undisputed leader among wood decors. Oak is associated with quality, tradition and coziness. Especially in very modern interior concepts, an oak decor is grounding and brings warmth. But this type of wood is also perfect for more rustic styles. In short: a versatile wood decor that is in high demand for good reason.

PROJECT FLOORS is constantly developing new products and has decided not to wait until the next collection change before releasing them. An additional collection has therefore been launched, comprising eight completely new oak decors, two in a larger format and three already familiar ones. However, the ideas of oak decors are quite different: “We have put together a selection that ranges from a limed, almost white surface to dark stained bog oak,” says Bernd Greve, Managing Director and Sales Manager of PROJECT FLOORS. “So there should be something for every taste, also because the selection from this wood segment has been bundled in a compact and clear way.”

The OAK SELECTION decors are planks for full-surface bonding. The 13 decors are available in two wear layers, each for the residential and commercial sectors.
