The Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects will be awarding the akbw female architect prize for the first time this year. Projects can be submitted until September 23, 2023. The award ceremony will take place in Stuttgart on October 26, 2023.
The akbw female architect award was initiated by the “Architektinnen in der Kammer” network and is intended to highlight women in architecture and planning and make their work and innovative strength more visible. The initiator of the network, Odile Laufner, believes that the architectural and conceptual contribution of women in architecture and urban planning must be recognized. After all, 9,000 of the approximately 26,000 members of the AKBW are female. “What will it look like when there really are equal framework conditions and equal design? We are very curious to see the possibly somewhat different perspectives on architecture and urban planning,” says Laufner.
Top-class jury
Both completed projects and projects that are still in the planning or development stage can be submitted. Processes relating to issues in building construction, urban development, regional planning, interior design, open space design and landscape architecture are also eligible. Female architects, interior designers, urban planners and landscape architects who are registered members of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects are eligible to take part. The jury consists of five female judges from the specialist fields as well as teaching, academia and research:

Prof. Dr. Vanessa Miriam Carlow, independent architect and urban planner, Braunschweig
