The Sakae district in Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya, has gained a new café. The “Blue Bottle Coffee” not only impresses with its close location to Hisaya Odori Park, but also with its warm, inviting atmosphere, which it owes to the Tokyo-based architecture firm keiji ashizawa design. It is particularly noteworthy that the firm worked primarily with local companies to achieve a coherent overall look, which makes the interior of the café particularly interesting. The wall tiles in warm shades of pink, which were produced by a tile manufacturer from Gifu Prefecture in two shades of light and shade, are a defining element. Thanks to them, the room develops a dynamic effect that is adapted to the incident light, which is particularly emphasized by the floor-to-ceiling window front that runs across the entire width of the store.
The furniture was also selected in collaboration with a local furniture manufacturer and fits in perfectly with the ambience of the café. Dark wood is complemented by upholstery in earthy tones, which creates a cozy atmosphere and is intended to accommodate different constellations of guests – whether individuals, couples or families – through a variety of arrangements. The ambience is rounded off by mobiles inspired by branches swaying in the wind and wall and pendant lights made from local Mino ceramics.
