Aesop Skincare’s signature store on Place de la République in Lyon, which opened in 2023, is a skillful interplay of different materials and textures by Nicolas Schuybroek Architects. The original high ceilings made of fireproof foam are replaced by beige-grey sound-absorbing wool felt walls, which give the store a pleasant atmosphere. The wooden furniture is complemented by a pewter basin, which is the focal point of the room, especially thanks to the Italian mid-century style chandelier hanging above it. The almost floor-to-ceiling windows of the old building create a bright, light-flooded room that emphasizes the effect of the natural materials. Overall, the straightforward, modern look of the store in subtly cool natural tones skillfully showcases the products on offer.
