Club L94 raises eyebrows with Brüder-Grimm-Platz. Club L94 won the competition for Brüder-Grimm-Platz in Kassel in November 2020. Now the new design is causing a stir. Some describe it as kitschy. In a joint venture with the planning offices pbb balke + kagerer and bauchplan ).(, the architectural firm bogevischs delivered a future concept for the redevelopment of Munich’s Viktualienmarkt. The next phase of the market’s modernization began in mid-June 2021. bogevischs buero is working intensively on the existing building and its fabric this summer. Tegel Airport Lake – a development concept. Swimming is permitted north of the former Berlin Tegel Airport. And has been since the 1970s. Gravel extraction left behind the Tegel Airport lake. Recently, the quarry pond has become particularly popular. Noise, garbage and parked cars are the result. A development concept is now to help resolve the conflicts and challenges around the lake. ACO and BIRCO – merger. Exciting information from the drainage industry! Provided the relevant competition authorities give their approval, the drainage specialists ACO and BIRCO will merge by the end of 2021. ACO GmbH will join BIRCO GmbH as a shareholder with 100 percent of the shares. Read more here.
Climate change in Germany: New federal climate impact and risk analysis. On June 14, 2021, the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Federal Environment Agency presented the results of the federal government’s climate impact and risk analysis (KWRA). The message: if things continue as they are, the risks posed by heat, drought and heavy rainfall due to climate change will increase significantly in Germany. We have summarized the most important findings for you here.
Single households continue to increase. Demographic change is one of the key challenges for Germany’s urban planning. What many people forget: Demographic change cannot be equated with ageing alone. Rather, it is defined by a variety of changes in our population structure – including the size of private households. In other words, how many people live together, how and where. The BBSR, the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development, presented the results of its latest household forecast in May 2021. According to this, the number of single households will continue to increase until 2040. Find out more here.

National water strategy presented. At the beginning of June 2021, Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze presented her draft for a National Water Strategy. With this strategy, the German government wants to protect Germany’s natural water reserves. We give you an overview here.
H. C. Andersen Museum opened by Kengo Kuma. The Hans Christian Andersen House opened in Odense, Denmark, at the end of June. Japanese architect Kengo Kuma designed the museum, where visitors can immerse themselves in a dreamlike fairytale world. The fairytale garden surrounding the museum was designed by Copenhagen-based landscape architecture firm MASU Planning. Find out more about the project here.
