When landscape architect Christian Meyer walked past a traffic island on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin 20 years ago, he had an idea. He wanted to create a garden oasis from the unused green space in a prominent location. A year later, in 1997, he began planting the first flower bulbs in collaboration with a few volunteers and with the support of the DGGL. Since then, the project has been financed by donations. Today, Berliners take detours to see how the urban garden is developing. A success story.
