A look behind the scenes: This year, Alpitecture is combining excursions in South Tyrol with an architecture competition on the subject of tourism architecture.
This year’s “alpitecture code 7-15” combines exciting excursions in South Tyrol and an architecture competition with an informative congress on the topic of “tourism architecture”. The events are organized by local companies and allow participants to take a look behind the scenes of South Tyrolean companies. Baumeister is a media partner.
The focus is on tourism architecture and its impact and influence on the respective location and people. In three program points, the question of what characterizes attractive and successful tourism architecture will be discussed. How are architecturally attractive destinations created? What architectural features and impressions attract tourists? How can they remain popular tourist destinations for years to come? Thus, the two players “architecture” and “tourism” form a symbiosis of two promising, exciting worlds.
Alpitecture Tour
This year, three independent architecture excursions will be offered from 11 – 13 June – in the regions of Bolzano, Val Pusteria and Valle Isarco, which are characterized by their distinctive and unusual architecture. In addition to selected architectural highlights, the “alpitecture summit” (see below) will be visited on Friday.
Alpitecture Award
This year for the first time, the EOS – the Export Organization South Tyrol – is presenting the Alpitecture Award on the subject of “Tourism Architecture” for architects and interior designers. The competition focuses on architectural projects that provide measurable added value for tourism, its users, visitors and guests. Projects realized between 2008 and 2014 are eligible. The participation phase ends with the last possible submission on May 29, 2015. An international jury led by Hain Rashid from Asymptote Architecture and Todd Saunders from Saunders Architecture will award prizes to the submissions. All projects will be on display in an exhibition at Museion Bolzano on June 12 during the Alpitecture Summit.
Alpitecture Summit
The series of events will be rounded off with the Alpitecture Summit on June 12. This congress will once again take up the theme of the Alpitecture Award “Tourism Architecture”. It will focus on the central idea of how architecturally attractive and successful destinations are created.
