Prince Heinrich von Pückler-Muskau (1785-1871) was one of Germany’s most important garden artists. The landscape parks he designed in Bad Muskau, Babelsberg and Branitz are among the highlights of 19th century European landscape design – and some of them are even UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The roof of the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn has now been transformed into a Pleasure Garden for Parkomanie, bringing Prince Pückler’s key principles to life. The roof landscape was designed by Orel+Heidrich, who also designed the 2016 Garden of the Year. The exhibition can be seen until September 18. Christine Kowalski met Christine Orel for an interview.
Cord Panning, Park Director and Managing Director of the “Fürst Pückler-Park Muskau” Foundation, Renata Stachanczyk, Project Manager of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Poland, Claudius Wecke, Park Director of the Fürst Pückler Museum Park and Branitz Castle Foundation, Michael Rohde, Garden Director of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg, and Agnieszka Lulinska, curator of the “Parkomania” exhibition, present Prince Pückler’s garden landscapes at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn:
