Lithofin’s professional solution for use in natural stone processing plants

Natural stone processing plants are the linchpin of natural stone slab fabrication. In addition, cleaning and protective treatments are required to prepare kitchen countertops for installation. To ensure the necessary products are quickly at hand, Lithofin has put together the ProBox— a compact selection of cleaners, specialty products, and essential tools. This way, the processor has all the products within reach and can focus on finishing the natural stone slabs.

The box consists of a solvent-resistant plastic bucket with a capacity of 20 liters. The lid seals the bucket airtight. The modular system covers a variety of applications:

ProBox protect: Impregnating agents for factory processing (use in natural stone quarries)
ProBox clean: Specialized cleaners for natural stone (service box)

All cleaners are included in their original sizes (1 liter or 500 ml) and can also be replenished individually in these quantities.

Good to know: Lithofin products have been developed, produced, and sold through specialty retailers in Germany for 70 years. Certification under the DIN ISO 14001 environmental management system and the 1996 DIN ISO 9001 quality management standard ensures high quality at every stage of the process.

With the Lithofin ProBox Protect, natural stone processing facilities have all the necessary products and tools to perform on-site impregnation work on natural stone, quartz composite, and ceramic.

In addition to the high-quality workshop impregnants Lithofin NanoTop and Lithofin FVE (which significantly enhances color), both of which feature short application times and fast drying, the kit also includes cleaners for surface preparation. The box also contains microfiber cloths, nylon pads, a melamine pad, as well as disposable gloves, cups, and brushes.

The Lithofin ProBox Clean contains a comprehensive range of specialty cleaners and tools for the professional cleaning of kitchen countertops made of natural stone, quartz composite, and ceramic. As a service kit, it provides kitchen installers or on-site technicians with the perfect equipment, including professional products such as the highly alkaline cleaner Lithofin ASR for removing stubborn layers of dirt, or Lithofin LEV, which helps repair small imperfections in sealants and can be used without rinsing. It also includes, among other items, Lithofin LÖSEFIX for removing wax, oil, and felt-tip pen residue, and Lithofin KF Sanitary Cleaner for tackling limescale, rust, and soap scum.

This box also contains microfiber cloths, nylon pads, sponges, as well as disposable gloves, a brush, and a cup. Stains can be professionally removed on-site.

After surfaces have been cleaned and protected with Lithofin products, Lithofin care sets round out the ProBox concept. Especially for kitchen countertops, end consumers have the products they need to maintain the condition of their natural stone, composite, or ceramic countertops for a long time with the respective set. In addition to the appropriate products, detailed care instructions round out the care set.

Light and shadow in Cologne

L.-Fritz-Gruber-Platz is only about 400 meters away from Cologne Cathedral as the crow flies. For its design, the Düsseldorf-based firm scape Landschaftsarchitekten took up the theme of photography. The result is a play of light and shadow.

L. Fritz Gruber Square is located just 400 meters from Cologne Cathedral as the crow flies, right next to the Kolumba Art Museum of the Archdiocese of Cologne, which was built in 2007 according to plans by Peter Zumthor. The square is named after the photographic historian and journalist Leo Fritz Gruber. From 1945, he worked as a photographer for the British Army of the Rhine. This passion never left him. The Düsseldorf-based firm scape Landschaftsarchitekten therefore took up the theme of photography for the design of the square. A play of light and shadow creates a two-dimensional image of the large maple trees on the square. The square is bordered by listed facades from the 1920s and 1960s. Typical local basalt cobblestones surround a rectangular area of light-colored concrete slabs with an aspect ratio of 6:9 (small picture format), which is framed by three white cuboid benches.

Shadow plays are created on this projection surface, which is illuminated at night by a luminaire hanging above the square in the shape of a hollow sphere. Objects that cross its beam of light create sharply defined shadows on the paving. The functional principle is similar to that of a projector: a hollow body with a matt black inner surface and a point-shaped light source, the opening of which is dimensioned at the bottom so that the focal point beams precisely trace the surface of the square.

A stroke of art-historical luck

The Gothic sacristies of the parish church of St. Quirinus in Tegernsee are to be restored. Many eras have left their mark on St. Quirinus, which was the monastery church of the most important Benedictine abbey in Upper Bavaria until 1803.

The sacristy used today dates from the Baroque period, but the two Gothic sacristies with their vaults and rare gray-on-gray painting are a stroke of art-historical luck. These are now used as storerooms, albeit for valuable items from the monastery or handicraft objects such as candlesticks or figurines.

The approval of the preliminary investigation for the restoration means that the sacristies will now be cleared out so that they can be made accessible to the public at some point in the future. Church historian Roland Götz has taken a closer look at the sacristies and knows that their preservation is a stroke of luck. However, fire protection still needs to be clarified, as there are no escape routes. As the church is under the same roof as the Bräustüberl, the castle distillery, the grammar school and the brewery, all those responsible and the owners must first come to an agreement. How much all the measures would cost is now to be found out in advance.
