What Are Impregnations?
Stone+tec Canceled – Our Trade Show Topics for You to Read About.
The current situation is affecting the entire economy and has not spared the natural stone industry either. Planning for Stone+tec in Nuremberg was already in full swing but became obsolete when the trade show was canceled.
Our focus for the trade show was on impregnation treatments. We don’t want to withhold this information from you, so we’ve summarized the most frequently asked questions. You’ll find an excerpt here—the complete list is available on our website: www.lithofin.de/impraegnierungen
Impregnation treatments prevent deep-seated staining of natural stone surfaces by penetrating the stone’s structure. The reduced capillary absorbency makes it virtually impossible for stains caused by water, grease, and oil to form.
Where are sealants used?
It makes sense to use sealants where natural stone surfaces are exposed to extreme stain-causing substances (e.g., grease, oils). These can include kitchen countertops, vanities, and indoor or outdoor floors.
What should be kept in mind during application?
Results can only be achieved if the surface is dry, clean, and free of grease. Correct application is essential for the protective effect to take hold.
Wait for the right temperatures: The optimal surface temperature is between 10°C and 25°C. Allow for a drying time of approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on the temperature and the surface. Full protection develops within about 2 to 5 days. During this time, the surface should not come into contact with water or oil.
Do waterproofing treatments wear off?
The protection provided by impregnated kitchen countertops eventually wears off due to daily exposure to oil and grease. It should therefore be refreshed occasionally.
Our tip:
Lithofin offers practical care kits in a handy case or as a compact set in a folding box for refreshing the finish. The products in the kits are easy to use, so they can be applied effectively even by end users. Make a lasting impression on your customers by presenting them with a set as a gift after the countertop is installed.
