Natural stone surfaces infested with green deposits often become visible after a long, wet winter. This not only affects the appearance, but also poses a certain potential danger due to slippery and slippery areas. They should therefore be removed.
The formation of green deposits is a natural process that primarily depends on how long the surface takes to dry out again after rainfall. Theoretically, all outdoor surfaces can be infested, as spores and seeds are ubiquitously distributed in the air.
Plants shed leaves and flowers, which release tannic acids, dyes and other compounds onto the surface. These residues form a good nutrient medium and, together with moisture, promote the growth of mold, algae and mosses. With older coverings, especially absorbent natural stone such as sandstone, quartzite, limestone but also artificial stone, the dirt penetrates deeper and deeper.
Special chlorine-based cleaners remove these impurities quickly and powerfully. For quickly visible results, we recommend Lithofin MN Exterior Cleaner* for natural stone.
Alternatively, specially developed, pH-neutral outdoor surface cleaners can be used for green deposits. Although these products react more slowly, they do so automatically in combination with rain and also have a preventative effect against new staining for between 6 and 12 months. So if you want to take preventive action against green deposits and do not need to remove extreme discoloration, use Lithofin ALLEX*.
These two products are integral parts of the Lithofin range and are available in 1 L, 5 L or 10 L containers. In spring, you will receive a 500 ml container of Lithofin MN Exterior Cleaner* free of charge for 1 L of Lithofin ALLEX* at participating retailers.
