With this exhibition at the Tchoban Foundation in Berlin, Matthias Sauerbruch and Louisa Hutton provide an insight into the genesis of their architecture. Hardly any other office considers color so extensively as a material and space-forming element. Drawing naturally plays a major role as an aid and tool for exploring form, color and material.
L House, London, 1992, watercolor, pencil, Sauerbruch Hutton
The work of the Tchoban Foundation in Berlin has been entirely dedicated to the genre of architectural drawing for over ten years. For three months, Sauerbruch Hutton are now showing a selection of works in various graphic techniques from 35 years, including sketches from their student days. A spatial installation has also been designed especially for the show.
Another exhibition is shown in Baumeister 10/23 on page 26.
Remarkably, however, they kept their curated Baumeister issue in 2022 entirely in black and white, although their own – actually colorful – projects were also presented in it. The theme of their German-English issue is the Bauwende.
