With its annual stonemasonry symposium, the guild aims to strengthen the sense of community within the guild and bring the stonemasonry trade closer to the general public. It will take place on the market square in Braunfels from September 6 to 8, 2019. On September 8, 2019, the next Open Monument Day will take place nationwide at the same time under the motto “Modern(e): Upheavals in Art and Architecture”. The town of Braunfels is combining the events and offering special insights as part of a two-hour “Grand Tour of the Town”.

At the stonemasonry symposium, participants work on coat of arms stones for Braunfels’ twin towns. Or they decide on inscription plaques and coats of arms for donors and patrons, such as a pedestal stone for the castle and family museum of Count Obersdorf. The work is done by hand. Participants bring the appropriate tools for sandstone working as well as safety shoes and goggles. Missing tools will be replaced.

The guild covers the costs of accommodation, meals and workpieces for participants from member companies. Participants from other guilds pay a lump sum of 50 euros. Participants from non-guild companies pay a lump sum of 90 euros. Registration is still possible until July 31, 2019.
