Gabriela Gottwald, Executive Director of the Bavarian Construction Academy; Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Jungwirth, Campus Director; and Dr. Gerd Hofmann, the new coordinator at the Feuchtwangen campus, reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration in the future during a joint meeting.

It is not only their geographical proximity that makes this a natural fit, but also their shared focus: education and continuing professional development in the field of innovative and sustainable ideas in construction. Ms. Gottwald, who has been deeply involved in topics such as renewable energy since the 1990s and has already founded several companies not only in Germany and Europe but worldwide, was delighted by the enthusiasm with which Prof. Jungwirth and Dr. Hofmann are currently further developing the campus and, in particular, establishing the new international degree program in Smart Energy Systems.
She is equally confident about student enrollment: “German expertise is still highly regarded and in great demand internationally.” “The Bavarian Construction Academy focuses on continuing education and training for qualified professionals, some of whom have several years of professional experience. The Feuchtwangen campus will provide lecturers from the research community for this purpose. In return, practitioners can offer valuable practical insights to the university’s students, who are just starting their professional careers,” said program director Jungwirth regarding the agreement reached.
Over the course of the year, the plan is to launch additional projects; therefore, joint ideas will be developed and projects advanced through regular meetings in the future. At the top of the agenda is mutual exchange. “After all, even the best theory is useless if it can’t be applied in the end,” said Dr. Hofmann, referring to the potential for synergy that arises particularly in applied research.
There are also plans to create a campus-wide tour featuring various information points with QR codes. While the BauAkademie will provide the historical background on the development of various construction methods, the research building on the Feuchtwangen campus will demonstrate what is technically possible by today’s standards.
