Founded in 2000, the Cukiernia pastry shop in Lviv was given a new, modern look this year by interior design firm Yod Group. And in the truest sense of the word. Probably the most unusual and creative element of the redesign is the uniform wall cladding. Inspired by the pastries produced in the confectionery and the eggs used in them, the office developed a special material for this purpose. Over a tonne of eggshells, which were collected by both the pastry shop and an egg producer, were used. The shells were washed, dried and ground to the desired degree. The colorfulness of this individual material gives the rooms a warm, inviting look, which is picked up by the marble used, which extends from the floor to the table tops to the counter. The warm caramel tones in the natural stone harmonize with the wood tones of the furniture. The chairs are remnants from the confectionery’s previous furniture and, with their new coat of paint, fit perfectly into the atmosphere of the new design. The pendant lights from Spanish manufacturer Aromas del Campo provide light, as the historic building does not have much daylight inside.
