Another lifestyle hotel, Roomers, opened in Baden-Baden last October. The ensemble of hotel, medical center and residential building forms a lively, stylish quarter that is not only popular with hotel guests. A special attraction is the rooftop bar on the fifth floor of the hotel, covered by a cantilevered flying roof. With this ingenious steel construction, particular attention had to be paid to minimizing thermal bridges, a central component of the energy concept. Without the “Schöck Isokorb type KS elements” installed, it would have been difficult or even impossible to construct the rooftop structure with the same lightness and to decouple the structurally problematic thermal bridge at the connection between the cantilevered steel beams and the reinforced concrete ceilings. In this way, modern steel balconies, steel canopies, façade substructures or shading systems can be solved technically and in terms of building physics without any problems. The 80 mm insulation thickness of the load-bearing thermal insulation element is reliably sufficient to ensure that no condensation, mold or corrosion can occur at the detail point.
An installation aid makes it easier to insert the DIBt-approved Isokorb into the formwork – planners can find all the technical information and details worth knowing at www.schoeck.de. Schöck also offers on-site planning advice to help with structural and design issues.
