The house in Antwerp was renovated in an unconventional way. The i.s.m. architecten office completed this project in 2023 and carried out both the architecture and interior design independently. The bathroom on the upper floor was not renovated in the traditional way. A custom-made bathtub was installed, as well as a wax basin unit in the middle of the room. The materials in this renovation defined the office following: polyurethane bathroom trim to off-center polished stainless steel countertops, a painted, load-bearing steel structure of polished concrete flooring and the naturally colored anodized aluminum exterior joinery to a mass-colored facade plaster – orchestrating a symphony of grays and serving as an ephemeral canvas for contemporary family living.
