There are currently 36 projects in progress in 21 countries. Four of these are due to be completed in 2016: The Salerno Maritime Terminal opens in Italy in a few days, the Port House in Antwerp in the Netherlands is due to open in September, the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia in October and the Mathematics Gallery at the Science Museum in London in December.
These videos show the concepts of the four designs.
With 12 kilometers of docks, the port of Antwerp is Europe’s second largest cargo port. The Port House converts a 95-year-old fire station and becomes the new administrative headquarters.
The King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a non-profit institution that brings together scientists and engineers from all over the world to work on the energy issues of the future. The building is to achieve LEED Platinum certification and use as little energy and resources as possible.
The Salerno Maritime Terminal in Italy will receive regional, national and international ferries and cruise ships in Salerno. The city is the starting point for many excursion destinations on the Amalfi Coast.
The Mathematics Gallery at the Science Museum in London will show visitors how mathematicians and their ideas have changed our world. The curved walls were inspired by the air currents that would flow around the central exhibit, an airplane from 1929.
